Review:

I'm a great Marvel Cinematic Universe fan and I try to keep up with both of its big screen films and its TV production. I don't read the comics and I've only heard the name 'Daredevil' once or twice before, not knowing who he was. Well, now I know.

I wasn't sure what it was going to be like and I didn't expect much of it - after all, it's DC that does the best superhero series and I was disappointed by Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the beginning and though they are so much better by now, it's still not The Arrow or The Flash. I will compare them with Daredevil but that will come later. What I want to say now is, that I was everything but disappointed. It delivered in a spectacular way and although I have only seen seven episodes out of thirteen so far, I dare say it is at least as good as The Arrow if not better. I'm not sure if I can count Netflix among TV production but if I could, I'd say that Marvel had finally caught up with DC in that when releasing Daredevil.

I have to admit that sometimes it's hard to relate the series to the MCU as it happens to be darker than the shining silver screen films and I only realise that it's part of the universe when the Avengers get mentioned but that hardly affects my viewing experience. I expect there might be some crossovers in the future that will tie Daredevil to MCU more tightly.

Now, for the series itself. It feels very fresh and for me personally it was very easy to grow fond of Matt as portrayed by the lovely Charlie Cox who's doing a tremendous job playing the blind vigilante. I have no idea what the comics Daredevil's like but I definitely love this guy. The rest of the cast is brilliant as well, I like especially Elden Henson as Foggy, a friend and co-worker of Matt's and Vincent D'Onofrio does occasionally make you feel sorry for his villain which is definitely not a bad thing.

Real highlights of the series for me are the action sequences. The fights look both realistic (for TV, I know if they were to fight in real life it would go a bit differently - what I want to say is that they don't feel too scripted as some happen to feel) and are a pleasure to watch (unless Matt takes too much beating, then they're not pleasant at all).
I could talk about how much I actually love the show for hours but I guess nobody is interested in that anyway. So all I'm going to say is that it's awesome and if this genre is your cup of tea, you should definitely try watching it.

Oh, right, I've promised you a comparison, haven't I? Daredevil seems very similar to The Arrow for its darkness and it actually looks more like it could belong to the DC shows rather than Marvel's. I'd say Marvel is learning from DC but manages to make a thing of its own, not copy of something successful and that, I believe, is extremely important. Daredevil might remind you of other superhero shows and films but never too much to be considered their copy.

And now, please excuse me, I'm going to watch episode 8.
